Close has been one of my favorite artist's since my first trip to the Art Museum. Portraits interest me the most, no matter what medium. I recently found out that Chuck's work will be in the new Vanity Fair Hollywood Edition. I was very confused at first because I thought it was mostly photography based. Well, he's the fucking guest artist and he's taking photos. It could be love.

Here's the Vanity Fair interview with Close talking about his process, subjects, lack of hair/makeup crew, and why he chose the breath taking Polaroid camera.

Over the past few days I have been trying to take as many photos as possible. I have all of these ideas and themes I want to try out and perfect. I'm considering these first hundred photos as a practice run. Looking over the few I loaded onto my personal computer I noticed some focusing, lighting, and grain issues. All to be expected for my first time really using manual mode on my camera (Canon 60d). I liked a few a lot and hated majority. But that's what being an artist is all about..... so I think.

When I looked at this on my camera I didn't see and of the dust.

Another new artist I have recently found on Tumblr was John William Keedy. As an avidly anxious person, mild OCD/ severe ADHD, insomniac, and over all level headed depressed person, this set of photos really really really made me feel uncomfortable in the most eye opening way. I warn you all (OCD/anxiety/ or anyone that likes organization) not to look if you are easily triggered, because this had me up 3 hours later than usual, thinking about these photos. I'm not sure what his main focus was on making these photos, showing a mental issue or triggering someone with a mental disease. What do you think?
This photo best describes how I view things on a table.
There are many types of OCD but I love how he hit my personal struggle head on and displayed it plain and simple, right to the point.

The green table cloth is not my favorite choice of color. The pea's have less of an impact.

Taking self portraits or selfies, as we call them today, has become an art form of its own and they are currently my favorite type of photo's going around. I love being able to see how a person sees, presents, and thinks of themselves. I think we all have different idea of how we each look and should look. I recently came across a photoset of selfies taken by David Uzochukwu who is a 15 year old photographer from Luxembourg.

This is my favorite photo of his set of Self Portraits, he looks so small and vulnerable.

I cannot fall asleep tonight so I decided to start on this blog for Digital Photo 1.
I customized it and made it pretty (I think it's pretty), so I'm guessing the next step would be to post something on it..
